Green summit brochure maps 2027 Cape Town delivery

Preview brochure outlines 2027 pitch stages, Green Village and partner network

Africa’s Green Economy Summit has released the preview brochure for its fifth edition, giving delegates, sponsors and project owners an early operational picture of what the 2027 event will actually put on the ground. The summit runs in Cape Town from 23 to 26 February 2027, with the City of Cape Town confirmed again as host city in a partnership that has anchored the event since its earlier editions. The brochure, available for download via the AGES website ahead of the full programme, lays out the early agenda, features and participation opportunities, including the speaker line-up, the project pitch stages and a new Green Village.

The timing matters for delivery. The launch comes as global attention turns to COP31, the UN Climate Change Conference, and AGES is positioned as the mechanism that converts the commitments and conversations of COP31 into partnerships and financing decisions that deliver Africa’s sustainable development on the ground. As Hywel George of Old Mutual Investments puts it: “Africa’s Green Economy Summit is a must-attend for anyone serious about the future of our great continent. It is wonderful to combine great content from speakers experienced in the field with capital matching opportunities which make a real difference on the ground.”

At the centre of the delivery model is the project pipeline. A key feature of AGES is its investment-ready pipeline, presented across two dedicated pitch stages to an audience of investors, financiers and development partners. Projects confirmed to pitch at the 2027 edition include the Eden Menia Egypt Farm in sustainable agriculture (Egypt); the MTE Green Hydrogen Fuel Cells Electric Generator in renewable energy, green hydrogen and fuel cells (Namibia); Pyrosa, a climate technology project (South Africa); Safi Organics in sustainable agriculture (Kenya); Spiro ESS, a second-life battery circular economy programme in green mobility, energy storage and circular economy (Kenya); and the Nioki pilot project in renewable energy, urban electrification and mini-grids (Democratic Republic of the Congo). Further projects are to be confirmed ahead of the summit.

The scale of that pipeline is substantial. The summit is expected to showcase more than 40 investment-ready projects across its two pitch stages, representing a project pipeline exceeding USD 2 billion. More than 200 Green Village attendees are expected, fostering connections between capital providers and climate solutions, and the 2027 edition is expected to welcome more than 700 delegates, spanning investors and financiers, project owners and developers, corporates and industry leaders, government and policymakers, and legal and advisory professionals.

New for this edition, the Green Village is designed as a physical marketplace for partnerships and project financing at the heart of the summit, positioning AGES as Africa’s leading green economy marketplace by bringing the full green economy ecosystem together in one place. It is structured around three components. Project Pods give investment-ready projects visibility beyond the pitch stage, with every sector of the green economy represented. Corporate Pods are reserved for organisations such as special economic zones, industrial development zones and foundations, and are available as an add-on for AGES sponsors. Pavilions bring together projects and programmes from development finance institutions and country delegations to showcase their impact on Africa’s green economy.

Execution will rest on a growing partner network. AGES 2027 is supported by the City of Cape Town as host city, Climate Policy Initiative and Frost & Sullivan as knowledge partners, AP3 as transaction advisory partner, ESI Africa as host media partner, and project partners Dala 4 Africa, Fetola and P4G, with additional sponsors and partners to be announced. The summit is also backed by a wide base of supporting organisations spanning private capital, sustainable finance and industry bodies across the continent.

On the content side, AGES 2027 will bring together an international line-up of speakers from government, development finance, industry and civil society. Confirmed speakers include Aakif Merchant, Director and Head of Africa at Convergence; Annie McWalter, CEO of The Hope Factory; Barbara Buchtner, Global Managing Director at Climate Policy Initiative; Candice Stevens, CEO of the Sustainable Finance Coalition; Dayo Aduroja, Director, Youth and Tech Innovation, Africa at Heifer International; John Roome, Independent Senior Adviser on Climate Change, Sustainable Development and Infrastructure; Jonathan First, Head Africa and Country Director South Africa at Climate Policy Initiative; Leila Guici, Senior Advocacy Manager, Climate Tech at GSMA; Lisa Pinsley, Fund Head, African Transition Acceleration Fund at AIIM; Thembi Xaba, Executive Director of OneFarm Impact; Matsi Modise, Africa Lead at World Climate Foundation; Mohamed Sebti, Investment Director and Head of Growth Equity at Inspired Evolution; and Sarah Malm, Executive Director of GOGLA. Additional speakers will be announced in the lead-up to the event.

AGES has grown into one of the continent’s leading dealmaking platforms for the green economy, connecting global capital with investable African projects across renewable energy, green transport, water, waste, sustainable agriculture, green buildings, the blue economy and climate technology. The full programme is to follow the preview brochure, and further details are available via the reference article at https://www.engineeringnews.co.za/article/–2026-10-09.
